CM: Man, I don't know. It's kind of crazy. You know that feeling when you haven't washed your hair in three days and it's like bugs are crawling all over your head and if you lean too close to the stove you could start a grease fire?
IR: Um... no, nope. Never felt like that. That's gross, though.
CM: Yes you have, you're me. Anyway, I don't feel like that.
IR: Well that's good.
CM: Yup. It is. And you know how it feels when you wash your hair with shampoo every day and you come out of the shower feeling fresh and clean and wonderful?
IR: Yeah, I know that one too. Is that how it feels?
CM: No. It doesn't feel like that either. It's somewhere in between. My hair doesn't feel dirty necessarily, but it doesn't exactly feel "clean" either.
IR: Why did you just put the word "clean" in quotation marks?
CM: Because I'm thinking we might be dealing with a paradigm shift here. I've used shampoo all my life, ever since I was a baby. And so, because of that, I've always had the same feeling when coming out of the shower. I've associated that feeling with cleanliness. But what if that feeling isn't actually the feeling of cleanliness? Or what if there are other ways to be clean without that specific feeling? I mean I don't feel dirty. Does that by default mean I feel clean?
IR: I think I see where you're going here. It's like you're redefining normal. Maybe this unexplainable state your hair is in can be your new definition for feeling clean?
CM: Exactly. You know me so well!
IR: So are you going to keep up this experiment?
CM: I think so. I like the way my hair smells when I use the cinnamon/vanilla/vinegar mix. It smells spicy, which I think is just the right scent for this season. And besides, I don't have any real reasons to stop it, and lots of girls online have said that they think their hair is healthier than ever before. Of course I don't think they all use blow dryers and flat irons either though.
IR: So you're still damaging your hair at least a couple times a week by blowing hot air on it and pressing it beneath hot ceramic plates?
CM: Yeah. I like the way it looks.
IR: So... one more time... you're giving up shampoo hoping for healthier hair, but you're not going to drop the blow drying and flat ironing? So you're not really that serious about healthy hair, are you?
CM: I guess not.
IR: Why are you doing this again?
CM: Why not? And who are you all of a sudden, Barbara Walters? This interview is over.
Below is a picture of me yesterday, day two of my experimentation. It's blurry, but you get the idea:

And here's Anna Joy. Just because she's cute:
