Ooohhh, that's deep. Sometimes it seems that even small change can reap big benefits. But, there are some things that I want to see change, but I don't have the time to commit to changing them. What are your thoughts there?
Makes me think of Ghandi and then it makes me hungry. I couldn't fast like he did.
But, really, it makes me think that our small corner of the world is the world that we have the ability to change every day. It starts from the ground up, from the seemingly small decisions we make on a daily basis that ultimately affect the greater good.
Well here's my confession - I've never really believed that I personally could make a difference in the big world. I mean so what if I turn my lights out when I leave the room and recycle? Is the amount of energy or waste that I produce so vast that just me changing my habits is going to change the world? No. The same goes with voting. I just don't believe that my little vote will make a difference one way or the other. I know that the danger lies when lots of people think that, but for one person to vote or not vote seems unimportant.
But recently I've come to see this quote through different eyes, alot like the comments you two have given. Maybe I can't change the entire world, but it's entirely possible that I can at least change MY world. I know that my actions affect my own world, even if it's just in the way that my actions affect my attitude which affects my perception of my world.
It's been my new goal and mission to be the change I want to see in MY world. I think that THAT is doable.
