Nothing Says "We Love You, Haiti," Like Trashy Girls and Nasty Drinks

I went to a party the other night. No, this wasn't any kind of crazy cool fun party that you married and/or old people think we young and/or single people go to every Friday night just because we can. This was a benefit concert for Haiti. It seems like everyone these days wants to do something to help Haiti. I think that's great. And what better way to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake than to have a party?

So on Friday night I accompanied my good friends Justin and Audrey to the Raising Haiti 2.0 party. There was live music, good food, raffles, and a silent auction. One of the main reasons I wanted to go was because they were raffling off a $1000 diamond. Score! Of course I never win anything that requires any semblance of luck, so I didn't win the diamond. The number they called was 4 away from mine!

What else can I say about the night? Well, I did win the silent auction for a $65 set of high quality teas for only $15. That was pretty sweet. There was definitely live music, but most of it was pretty bad. The last act was a guy who rapped some nonsense that no one could understand. Apparently he thought it would be a good idea to "please the ladies" by buying oversized plastic flowers and dowsing them in whatever his favorite cheap cologne was. He then threw them to the ladies closest to him as he did his first song. They smelled awful, believe me.

Before that, I did have the most amazing chicken tortilla soup ever! It was perfectly seasoned and totally awesome. Hanging out with Audrey was fun too. We hang out a lot just watching tv, but getting a chance to chat with her about all sorts of girl stuff was really fun. Justin was running around taking pictures most of the time, so I didn't really see him much. Also attending the party were some roller derby girls and everyone's favorite, the Jager girls. The roller derby girls were pretty cool. Very friendly and having a good time. The Jager girls just walked around wearing more makeup than clothes giving people free Jager merchandise. I ended up with a hat, a keychain and a blinking light. Woohoo. Needless to say, nothing that they gave me convinced me to buy their product. Gross. Nothing says, "we love you Haiti" like trashy girls and nasty drinks!

Aside from that, nothing totally amazing happened. I did enjoy just going out for a change, though. I don't get to go out much these days. I kinda thought more cool people would be there but, alas, they weren't. It was a less than cool gathering. Where do all the cool people hang out on Friday nights? I need to find one and figure it out. Well Monday's coming all too soon. I'd better be on my way to sleepy-town.
