Let me explain why cleaning my office is a big deal by explaining what moving means to me: First, you start out with great intentions of being orderly, organized, and well put-together and that lasts a total of like a day or two until you get tired of packing and/or realize that you have to move your entire life tomorrow and all you've packed is 6 boxes (but hey, those 6 boxes are neatly labeled and will be amazingly easy to unpack!). So then you start throwing stuff together. Things in your home that have never even met before (toilet bowl brush wrapped in a wal-mart bag, meet juicer i've never taken out of the box) get shoved in the same box just because they'll fit. You throw clothes in garbage bags and cram as much as possible into every cranny and corner of whatever vehicles you're using to transport your stuff. Then the big things get put in their new places and you begin the ever-so-fun task of unpacking. But unlike packing, there's usually no deadline on unpacking (unless you're one of those perfectionist self-driven people who sets goals and achieves them... pshh). So what eventually happens is that you unpack the essentials and the rest gets unpacked on a need-to-use basis. I've moved boxes from one apartment to another that never got unpacked from the last move (and yet I still keep the contents, because one of these days I'm going to need 30 rulers again, right? And my skip-it will be worth a lot of money one day, right? And my kids will be fascinated by my massive POG collection, right?)
Anyway, this is what happened with my office. I thew a bunch of junk in a bunch of boxes, hauled it over to my new office, and set up just what I needed for the moment. A lot of the things I had never even seen before, since I just got this job a few months ago and my predecessors were quite the pack rats (not always a bad thing, just overwhelming for someone else to inherit!). But today I went through it all. I looked at all the papers, decided what to keep and what to shred, found places for all the papers I kept, organized, cleaned, it looks like a real office in here!
Just one small problem. There are no decorations in my office. Now personally, I could not care less. When I'm working I'm not staring at my walls thinking, "boy, I really wish I could find some artwork to make this place less drab," or "gee, some well-placed sconces would do wonders for the ambience in this room." No, I'm pretty much staring at my computer screen all day long. I don't look up often, and when I do I don't really care what the walls look like. But I know other people do, so I know I need to do something for them. But I don't have an eye for that kind of stuff, so I'm going to need someone to come in with the vision and do the work. I'm just not motivated enough to get anything done. If someone can come in, buy the stuff (or tell me what to buy) and tell me where to put it, I'll hang it or arrange it. No problem. But I only have two eyes in my head, and neither one is artistic.
That said, here's my outfit for the day: maroon cowl-necked sweater, black leggings, black ballet flats, hair in a hat. I'm pretty silly today, so you get a montage :)

ps - Do you see my window??? It wasn't there three weeks ago. They added that window just for me! Cut it out of the wall just so I could have natural sunlight. Aren't they good to me?! Thanks James!

You look so cute.
Aw, thanks mom!
OOHHH--I really like this one, too! I kinda want to copy this one. Not sure I could pull it off. And I definitely couldn't pull off a hat like you do!
