A friend of a friend is in town for awhile. I have heard about this guy for the last year and a half of being around here. All I knew for sure was that I liked his taste in music. But all my other friends around here would go on and on about how funny he is, how cool he is, how much they adore him. I was a little suspicious. Not gonna lie, he's pretty cool. They were pretty much right. He's a lot of fun.
I'm working at Joe's tonight. I love working at Joe's. I have a good time usually. Sadly, I usually have more fun if no one comes in. Then I get to sit on the couch and relax. But there are a few people I enjoy seeing. I hope Jim comes in. I'm going to drink chai tonight. Definitely.
I've had three flat tires in the last 2 months. That's not a good sign, is it? I can't figure out what's going on! The first two were on my rear passenger's side tire. The latest one (which inconveniently struck on my way out for lunch yesterday!) was on my front driver's side tire! I have no problem changing my own tire, but yesterday I was definitely not dressed for changing a tire. The skirt would have made things awkward. Fortunately, a very nice man came and changed it for me. But seriously, what the crap? Does everyone get flat tires this often? What am I doing to get so many? I don't live or work around a construction site, so I can't imagine that it's all nails. Maybe it is. I don't know. But it's ridiculous, and it's starting to tick me off. And my little baby air pump didn't help at all yesterday. My tire was so flat even baby air pump couldn't help it. Fortunately I had a full-sized spare in the trunk (an old flat that I had gotten fixed at one point while simultaneously buying new tires). But seriously! I'm not ok with all this.
Some things that have brought me joy recently:
1. The weather - I really like the kind-of-cold, kind-of-dreary, drizzly days. They make being inside so much cheerier.
2. Cooking - I made fish for lunch and curry for dinner the other night. I really enjoy cooking, when I have the time to do it right. The only bad part is that I never get to enjoy the leftovers - someone always eats them!
3. Feeling competent - I've felt at least somewhat competent in my job for the last couple weeks. What a great feeling! I know it may not last for long, but I'm enjoying it while I can.
4. A schedule - I'm not huge on sticking to schedules no matter what, but I do enjoy the structure and time that a schedule gives me. I've discovered that if I can stick to the schedule I created for myself, my days are not as hectic or stressful. Go figure! I even scheduled in time to go to the gym after work (I gave up on the morning thing. It was just unrealistic)
5. Friends - I have some of the greatest friends ever. They always brighten up my day with encouraging words or just really funny ones. God knew what He was doing when He gave me my friends!
